For most of the beginning of the movie, I was pretty laid back, not really paying attention. Although, I did giggle hysterically watching Helena Bonham Carter pretend to be Emma Watson pretending to be Helena Bonham Carter. I thought that was brilliant.

The abso-freaking-lutely gorgeous dragon in Gringotts got my attention for a moment.

But I sat up and took notice as soon as we got to Hogwarts, though. Any part with Maggie Smith or Matthew Lewis had me squeaking in excitemnet and bouncing up and down in my chair. Maggie's duel with Alan Rickman was bloody brilliant. I would watch the entire film again just to hear Maggie say "BOOM!" one more time. Neville's decision to tell Luna that he's mad for her had me squealing like a prepubescent girl at a Justin Bieber concert. (Is anyone else noticing my tendency to make high pitched noises when I'm excited?) And when Matthew swung his sword and killed Nagini? I whooped out loud. And got several very odd looks, but that is completely beside the point...

Random Favorite Special Effect: the warding of the castle was wonderful. The special effects were amazing, the sweeping shots of the castle were absolutely breathtaking. I got goosebumps.

When we saw Fred's body, tears began pouring down my face. At the shot of Remus and Nymphadora I was openly sobbing. I managed to calm myself down for the most part, until the appearance of the Resurrection Stone and then I completely broke down. Again.

And Molly confronting Bellatrix with her "Not my daughter, you bitch!" had me clapping.

Now, for my nitpicks.

Harry's line to Tom about finishing this together? I thought it was rather cheesy, and I am afraid that I kind of, sort of, well, I giggled at it. Yes, I know. Not appropriate, but I couldn't help it.

And I didn't think that Daniel Radcliffe and Bonnie Wright had any chemistry together. Although, that might have had a little to do with the fact that she looks like she's twelve so I kind of got a little squicked out.

I also did not like the fact that the got the original actors to play their older-by-twenty-(TWENTY!)-years selves. I admit I got giggly again over goatees and bellies. I really do have the most inappropriate timing when it comes to my giggles.

But, I clapped at the end of the movie and I stayed through all the credits and thought "Thank you" to every person who worked so hard on all these films.

And so the end has come to an era. I was nine years old when the first book came out. My parents bought it for me at a school book fair and I have grown up on these books. I have gone to midnight release parties for every book since then. And the movies within the week they all came out. I stayed up all night reading these books, rereading, and rereading again. I saw myself in almost every aspect of Hermione and tried to copy some of her mannerisms to deal with personal trials of my own.

Upon rereading again, now in my adult years, I may not be as blind to the faults in the story (thank you English degree), but I am still appreciative of the magic and the creativity that helped to shape my youth and partly influenced my desire to be a writer.

So, thank you to the actors and writers and directors and producers and composers and all those who helped bring this story to life for me.
