Okay this was not my fault today. Today's word count was all this morning as I have been away from my computer for the past nine hours, attending a baby shower, running errands. shoveling a driveway (again), and grocery shopping. So, tomorrow should be better as I have nothing planned (for now).

All written this evening, so that bodes well for tomorrow if I can keep up this groove I've got going.

Also, I love snow. I really do. I do not, however, like three inches of snow when I need to drive to and from work and it starts getting dark at 5:00.

No. Bad muse. Very, very bad muse. You do not, do not, give me 2000 words on another project when I am still so very far behind on this one. You just don't.

Any suggestions on forcing a rebellious muse into submission would be greatly appreciated.

Welp, now I've thoroughly upset myself. I watched The Hunger Games with Mneme. The book distressed me, so I should have known the movie would do the same. Also, bad news on the word count front. However, I am not going to let two bad days get me down. I shall press forward even if I remain constantly behind where my total should be.

Well, shit.

No writing earlier today because I learned yesterday right before work that I had to create 18 lesson plans for 9 weeks, 9 cooking classes (2 hours each) and 9 days of academic games (1 hour each). So there's that.

Now, I'm sitting here, watching as Romney's electoral votes climb, and I feel physically sick, and I want to cry. I agree with almost nothing that he has said, parts of the new Republican party platform disgust me, and I think Ryan is an incompetent moron.

My ultimate life goal has just turned into something that needs to happen in the next few years. I am moving to Amsterdam.

I can't watch this. Mythbusters marathon here I come.

Slowly but surely inching my way towards where I am supposed to be. I've found that I work best with sound in the background, so today I pulled up Pandora Radio on the internet and listened to the Glenn Miller station all day. I adore all of his bluesy - jazzy stuff.

Also, nerd alert. My phone now makes the TARDIS vworp vworp sound effect when I get a text message. And I grin like a loon every time it does it. XD

So I didn't completely make up my epic fail of yesterday, but I will be inching closer to back on track.

The biggest thing was keeping myself motivated since I was so disheartened by yesterday's fail, so I used leftover Halloween candy. Every two hundred words, I ate a piece. And since I hit 1500 by early afternoon, I allowed myself a brief break, drove to the library, and got a new movie I've never seen before.

Incidentally, if anyone has seen The Young Victoria and wanted to let me know how it was, I would love to hear.

Because the stupid prologue will not come out in anything other than passive voice. Six times I've tried, and it's all still passive. *repeated head desk*

Obviously, Prologue, you are the weakest link. And will not be tomorrow's project.

It has been a while since my last post, so I thought that now would be a good time to post a few updates about what's going on in my life now. Also, this is going to be kind of an exercise in identifying some positive things that are happening to me.

I started my new part time job in the middle of February. I am an assistant tester, administering a test to see how well school children (kindergarteners through seniors in high school) who have a different language spoken in their homes to see how well they are learning English as a second (or third) language. It's been fascinating and also a little boring. For one thing, it's giving the same test over and over (and over and over and over) again. On the other hand, to see all these different students who speak so many different languages (Arabic, Bosnian, Vietnamese, Samoan, Spanish, Portuguese) and to see that sometimes they speak something that you don't expect. Like the adorable blonde haired blue eyed boy in third grade who speaks Chinese.

I also have an on again off again part time job assisting a local artist who speaks English as a second language. She's Iranian American and I help her with her correspondence and grant writing and other things where her unfamiliarity with the English language is a hindrance.

I've made some headway on my NaNoWriMo novel with editing it and writing more. It's probably never going to see the light of day, but it's invigorating to know that I really can accomplish something of this magnitude. I'm also planning on finally sending some poetry out for publication in the next few weeks so we'll see how that goes.

So, anyway. That's where I'm at. And now, I feel much better about my life so my bad mood can go screw itself.

Sometimes, I dislike my sisters.

But at other times, like today, I really love them. Mneme promised me two days ago that when I made it to 45,000 words, she would make me a cake. And not just any cake, oh no. She's going to make me a chocolate/vanilla marble cake. *drools*

Actually, now that I think about it, that makes me sound really shallow, like I only love my sisters when they do something for me which totally isn't the case at all. Mneme just has been really angry lately and rather misanthropic (especially family), so for her to want to do something nice for someone (especially family) makes me really happy.

Also, I really rather adore being a part of a choir singing Christmas music. I really, really do. And I can still hit that high A above middle C even though I haven't practiced, as in actual practicing, for a few years! Yay!

*laughs nervously* So, not so much a great day for my word count, but it is for the best of reasons.

I spent half of the morning and the entire afternoon helping my grandparents clean out their basement, which resulted in me gaining many, many books I did not own, which include:

Voltaire
Sigmund Freud
Arthur C. Clarke
Jules Verne
Oscar Wilde
Martin Luther
John Steinbeck
Edgar Rice Burroughs
Robert Jordan
Bullfinch's Mythology
The Epic of Gilgamesh

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

Add to this the fact that I have now been promised that the signed (signed!) record of Nat King Cole (cue joyous hypersonic fangirl squees) is to be willed to me. This is because my grandparents are two of the coolest people I know. More than that, I got to learn more about both of them. For instance, my grandmother took fencing lessons in high school. That's right. Fencing lessons. Also, my grandfather was in the Air Force, until he broke his leg, the medical doctor allowed it to heal crookedly, hence it had to be broken again so it would heal properly, and he was given an honorable discharge.

I also spent the whole evening with friends who were in town for Thanksgiving from Las Vegas. YAY!

*is ashamed* I, I, I saw Breaking Dawn this afternoon. Don't judge me! I took Melete to see it. My finger still has indentations on it from where I bit it so I wouldn't break into hysterical giggles. I still snickered at the most inappropriate of times though. I just, it was so bad!

But we had fun together and that was the most important thing.

Edited to add this which is Movie-That-Must-Not-Be-Named in 15 minutes because it caused me to laugh and snort and choke on my own tongue, which, let me tell you, is not attractive. Like, at all.
